The journeys below are places to begin. Yours is built around your dates, your pace and your interests, on a route shaped by a reading of the land.
Three or four locations , and the country between them.
A journey moves through three or four landscapes, and your camp moves with it, standing ready in each. Between them come the travelling days, some of the best of the trip: game drives through changing country, bush lunches wherever the shade is good, charter plane and helicopter transfers for longer distances and here and there a night at a lodge along the way, a change of key while the camp goes ahead of you.

THE NORTHERN CIRCUIT · JUNE TO DECEMBER
Tarangire to the far edge of the Serengeti.
The traditional route, taken slowly, with the same camp standing ready at every stop.
Southern Tarangire
THREE NIGHTS · UNDER CANVAS
The camp is pitched near Silale, in the far south of Tarangire, a hard spot to reach and all the quieter for it. The swamp holds water when little else does, so the game comes to you: great elephant herds, ancient baobabs, some of the park's richest wildlife.
The Yaeda Valley
TWO NIGHTS · FLY CAMP
The fly camp sits in the hills beside the Hadzabe community, with the whole valley falling away below. Days follow their lead: hunting at dawn, honey gathering, food cooked over the fire, and evenings spent at it, shaped differently by every group and every season.
Ngorongoro Crater
ONE NIGHT · THE CRATER RIM
The descent begins at dawn with breakfast taken on the crater floor itself. A day among the densest lion population in Africa, then dinner and a warm bed on the rim while the camp travels ahead.
The Far Northern Serengeti
FOUR NIGHTS · UNDER CANVAS
Our last stop stands in the far north of the Serengeti, the quietest reach of the ecosystem. The days run long here, the resident game is rich in every month, and the great herds pass through in their season.

Southern Tarangire
THREE NIGHTS · UNDER CANVAS
The route opens at Silale in Tarangire's far south, reached by air. The swamp draws the game in numbers, and the crowds stay a long way north. The plains tend to be dry between December and March, guaranteeing exceptional game viewing at the Swamp.

Ndutu in the calving weeks holds the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet: hundreds of thousands of wildebeest on the short-grass plains, up to eight thousand calves born in a day at the peak, and the predators of an entire ecosystem drawn in behind them. We pitch up just off the plains, giving you front row seats to this spectacle.

Further, quieter, wilder.
The south is Tanzania at its vastest and emptiest, a long way from the high-season crowds of the north. This is a journey for those who have done safari before and want it wilder: whole rivers, whole horizons, whole days without another vehicle.
Ruaha National Park
FOUR NIGHTS · UNDER CANVAS AND IN LODGE
Ruaha holds some of the largest lion prides in Africa and one of Tanzania's biggest elephant populations, in baobab country that sees a fraction of the north's visitors. Days run from the camp, pitched for the season by the river or among the baobabs, with a night or two at a lodge above the water.
Katavi National Park
TWO NIGHTS · FLY CAMP
Katavi stages the dry season at its most extreme: the Katuma River shrinks to a chain of pools, hundreds of hippo pack into them, and buffalo cross the plains in herds a thousand strong. A fly camp puts you in the middle of it, in one of the least-visited parks in Africa.
The Mahale Mountains
THREE NIGHTS · THE LAKESHORE
Mahale is one of the finest places on Earth to see wild chimpanzees, tracked on foot through forested mountains that drop straight into Lake Tanganyika. Mornings go to the chimps; afternoons to swimming in the lake and evenings to sunset cruises.
Julius Nyerere National Park
THREE NIGHTS · UNDER CANVAS
The Selous is boat safari country: down the Rufiji with hippo and crocodile at eye level, walking safaris out from camp, and one of Africa's greatest strongholds of wild dog. The journey ends here, under canvas at the water's edge.
