THE PEOPLE
built from experience.
Tanzania is our home. The people who travel with you know this country better than almost anyone, and for the length of your journey they share it with you.

HOW WE BEGAN
The people behind it.
Okozi was started by two people who both live full-time in Arusha. Benji was raised on the edge of Arusha National Park, in a family who have run mobile safaris in Tanzania since 1989. He grew up inside it, and it left him with a firm idea of how safari should be done: lightly, on the land's terms. Evie grew up in the Yorkshire Dales, moved to Tanzania in her early twenties, and came to share the same conviction. Okozi is what the two decided to build together, though a great deal of how it works was shaped by the crew, who have done this far longer than either of us.
"Your staff were extended family. It felt like your team and my team were one big happy family."
S, TRAVELING WITH EXTENDED FAMILY
THE CREW
The people who make it what it is.
Some of the crew grew up alongside Benji, working with his parents on safari since they were young, with knowledge that cannot be taught on a course. Others are people we sought out when we started Okozi, and knew at once we wanted on the team. Guides who read the country by instinct, two private chefs, waiters, a watchman through the night, and the hands who raise and strike the camp at every move. They travel with you from the first camp to the last, and by the second one the trip no longer feels like something arranged for you. They are the reason people come back.
